At the age of 16, after refusing to back down in an argument with her grandfather, her grandmother, in frustration, suggested she should become a lawyer. This pivotal moment set her on a path filled with determination and success.

Before qualifying as a lawyer, Saher first became an interpreter and obtained an adult teaching qualification. During her law degree, she honed her public speaking skills by participating in live radio programs and speaking at public events. She also enjoyed managing a supplementary school for children.

Her commitment to personal growth continued with courses in Interfaith and Leadership, which led her to become involved in several community projects. She eventually qualified at the Bar and completed her Masters in Human Rights Law and later became a solicitor, playing a key role in establishing YHM Solicitors.

At the firm, Saher started out in the Immigration and Civil Litigation Departments, proving herself as a strong litigator. However, her true passion led her to create the Family Department.

Saher has a particular interest in Islamic Family Law and strives to help clients while respecting their faith principles and has been internationally published on the topic. Notably, after learning about the difficulties women face in obtaining a Khula, Saher was asked to establish this service, becoming the only lawyer in the UK to do so.

Saher’s expertise has also led her to appear on radio, where she’s been interviewed by the BBC and other stations, as well as making TV appearances.

Her clients appreciate her approachable nature and her ability to simplify complex legal concepts. Multilingual and fluent in Urdu and other South Asian languages, she connects with a wide range of people.

Beyond her work at YHM, Saher enjoys crafting, with many of her creations on display at the office. She’s also an avid reader, a trustee for several organisations, and a Scout Leader. In the summer you may find her cheering on her sons at their cricket matches.
